DESIGN PHILOSOPHY
Our mission is to create landscapes of lasting beauty for our Clients. We value design creativity and approach each project with the purpose of developing sophisticated ideas that are uniquely suited to our Client's needs and the surrounding environment.
THE FIRM
Stephen E. Meehan, Landscape Architect and Site Planner is a professional landscape architectural practice located on Long Island, New York. The firm provides site planning and landscape design services on all types of projects both public and private. While luxury single-family residential projects dominate our design commissions, we also work for Clients with modest budgets who desire good design and want assurance that their investment will be well spent. Our firm is also involved in designing municipal and commercial projects. Past projects have included monument and community parks, orporate and retail landscapes, school and religious grounds, town planning and street design, wetlands restoration and nature preserves. Most projects are located on Long Island, particularly in the north shore "Gold Coast" area. Additional project locations include Manhattan, Brooklyn, Queens, Connecticut, New Jersey, Florida, Indiana and internationally, Croatia.
STEPHEN MEEHAN, PRINCIPAL
Stephen is a licensed landscape architect registered in the state of New York since 1994. He received his Bachelor of Landscape Architecture degree from the SUNY College of Environmental Science and Forestry at Syracuse University in 1985.
My interest is in developing designs that maximize a site's potential, transforms its negatives into positives, and replaces a mediocre appearance with an exceptional presence. My desire is that each completed landscape will by far surpass my Clients dreams and expectations.
Creating unique and outstanding landscapes has been an ambition of mine throughout my years as a landscape designer. This aspiration first payed off in college, when I was chosen to be a finalist in a "Statewide Student Design Competition" of a government public plaza in New York. Later, with the interest of furthering my studies, I lived aboad for eight months conducting an in-depth study of the streets, plazas and gardens of Europe. That research helped me as a young landscape designer when I began focusing on designing upscale residential properties. As I progressed in my career, first as a landscape designer and then as licensed landscape architect, I have spent most of my time designing the estates and gardens of private residences along Long Island's North Shore and Hamptons areas. Today, I fully enjoy working with all my private residential Clients whether that means designing large luxury landscapes or providing service on small budget projects. Finally, I also have experience with, and get great satisfaction from, designing public space projects for my institutional and commercial Clients.
